> Hackers' critiques of contemporary norms spur innovation, while recuperation turns these innovations into commodified products and services. Recuperation threatens the autonomy of hacker collectives, harnessing their outputs for the benefit of a capitalist system... this sophisticated multidisciplinary account of technology-oriented movements that seek to challenge capitalism"
I guess "recuperation" works but I think "remuneration" might be better. There was this kind of tension between Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak before the founding of Apple and tension with the Homebrew computer club. I don't know without reading the book, but it sounds like a study of how a hacking collective can resist the lure of making a lot of money with the results of their experiments and inventions. It might be possible if your formed a hacker collective of people who really hated capitalism.
