Ask HN: I just finished creating a project and I’m lost
I spent the last month creating a little project only to realize it could be useless to anyone because it doesn't solve any real problem.
Long story short, months ago I discovered the existence of productized services, or as I like to call them “SaaP”.
I was fascinated that they offer customers an affordable alternative to traditional service agreements, where they might be paying for one on one attention and unpredictable hours. Basically, a productized service provides them with a set price and scope of work and the chance to choose what fits their budget.
So, without taking any time to think further, I thought that creating a SaaP to design pitch decks was a good idea. That’s why I developed Deckly.
Problem is, I don’t know if anyone would actually use it. I don’t know if there’s a market for it. I don’t know if it’s even a good idea.
I’m lost.
For context, this is my first project ever, I’m young and I don’t have any relevant work experience. But I can design and I think I’m good at creating pitch decks, perhaps that’s why I made such a sudden choice.
Do you have any suggestions?
This is the landing page if anyone is interested: https://deckly.altervista.org
P.S. payments are on test mode of Stripe, so if you want to test the pipeline feel free to.
- radiojasper 4y agoYou created something that shits on "unreliable freelancers and costly agencies" only to find out you have a shit product created on a whim without any market research - and now you're lost. > Plus, keeping up with freelancers’ rates and hourly billing is stressful! They often even try to bill useless things or waste time doing nothing to earn more money. Stay lost.
- saliagato 4y agoI presume you are a freelancer, thanks for the feedback. I will change the tone if it appears so aggressive. Have you got any other feedbacks? Thanks
- mtmail 4y agoCongrats. You have product, now it's time for marketing. Go everywhere founders are and tell them about your product. On Hackernews the place is https://news.ycombinator.com/show https://news.ycombinator.com/show

- saliagato 4y agoThank you for the suggestion. May I ask your personal opinion about the project? Assuming you were the user persona of my project, would you find it useless?
- tough 4y agoChange stripe to production Market wherever you are able to Profit ???
- saliagato 4y agoI’m sorry, what service?
- tra3 4y agoI'm not the target audience, but congrats on designing and shipping a product. It's incredibly difficult to go from an idea to something that actually works. I have no idea if there's demand for a product like this, but you should talk about it to people who may be interested in something like that. If nothing else it's a great portfolio piece to demonstrate what you're able to do.
- saliagato 4y agoThank you! Great motivation to keep going
- XCSme 4y agoDon't SaaPs usually require a monthly subscription? A pitch deck sounds like something you only need once or twice in your entire life.
