  Interesting analysis of how concentration in ad markets led to the decline of journalism. Then goes into the use case of Australia that the trend can be reversed with anti trust legislation, and the political hurdles (not all tech lobby) facing similar legislation that is up for debate in the US.

    Not necessarily. He brings up the point that in Australia, newspapers are hiring pretty aggressively again, and the way the proposed US legislation is framed, the incentives for VC-owned media would shift from slashing to hiring and investing. Also breaking up the ad cartel could lead to new ad-driven approaches for local news
