I haven't used AirBnB for years for one simple reason: Their policies are user-hostile. I booked an apartment in a big city, on the day I arrived the host cancelled. I got my money back and was stranded and had to get a same-day accommodation for a way higher price, which also took a lot of time of my short trip time to figure out. Of course this is covered by their ToS and according to them, perfectly legit for hosts to do. But as a traveler I want to have some kind of security that I will actually have a place to stay, so I stick with Booking.com, because they guarantee a place to stay even if the host cancels.
