Prior to this they were hosted by Saddam Husseinn in Iraq. After Saddam went bye bye, they apparently reached an agreement with US -- they are very 'flexible' with their alliances: Khomeini, Saddam, and now US -- and first relocated to Paris -- which previously hosted Khomeini -- and then ended up in Albania. As for serious threat, very recently Pence was there standing next to the "leader" (MEK went woke in Iraq). IRI is bad enough, but MEK in Iran will be Khmer Rouge 'Islamic-Marxist' style.
