In 2010ish, I worked at a place that did various things for a Dubai gov't-owned development company that had invested in us. What exactly did we do? I'm not sure. There was lots of meetings. And proposals. And trips to Dubai. And nice dinners. And executives with vague titles like "VP Special Projects". I think Dubai's economy fizzed out at about the same time that we discovered our owner was squandering/embezzling their investments in us.
