- HereIGoAgain 4y agoOnly 10?! It should be until they get a completely new (democratic) governmental system, and this should apply to EVERYTHING! We talk about being beholden to the CCP and yet won't even do the minimal to stop the expansion of it that we do have power over! The "market" and it's "logic" are not and never going to look out for even our most basic interests. Time to join reality!
- mytailorisrich 4y agoA democratic government would not solve America's problem with China. The problem is not fundamentally the government but China's increased strength and power, which are a threat to America's, not least because China is not subservient to the US (and they still wouldn't be with a democratic government).
- HereIGoAgain 4y agoYeah clearly.. But the point was that it should be the bare minimum before we allow resources, secrets/tech and money to flow into it from here. We shouldn't be round about propping up or aiding/allowing such, of totalitarian dictatorial governments.
- hulitu 4y agoBut a democratic government is easier to corrupt.
- mariuolo 4y ago> Only 10? For now.
- HereIGoAgain 4y agoWe can only hope because the nature of the type of investment they are talking about, isn't something that just happens every day. The fact that it isn't a full year or something is worrying in itself.
- mariuolo 4y agoI think they're keeping their options open for the future. Or perhaps it's a dangle to exact concessions.
- HereIGoAgain 4y agoI hope.. and like I said in my 1st post.. We really have no business not making this... 'less temporary'
