You can't have a standardised web with a single browser engine. That's the whole point of standards. Generally speaking, the W3C will only move a standard into the recommendation track if two competing implementations have been demonstrated. If Chromium was the only browser engine around we wouldn't have web standards: we'd have Chromium features.
