Thanks, appreciate the questions!
- On obtaining it: so the product is in testnet currently, so acquiring these test assets is just a matter of requesting it: see https://sov0.org/ https://sov0.org/. Conveniently, we're also running a sweepstakes with a $100k USD prize where the entry procedure is just to ask for some testnet assets.
- Once we launch into production, our intent is to distribute the assets freely over the first few years to users who help sustain the network, in a process roughly analogous to block rewards in PoS/PoW. We won't be selling the assets to a general audience, and our goal in general is to sell as little as possible to fund operating costs.
- On value being related to utilization: right, so our view is to make the analogy with gold. Essentially, if/once there's coordination around SoV0, there will be markets for transacting the asset. Building something that can be directly utilized for purchases would require building a currency, which we're not sure is possible to do in an elegant self-perpetuating way (and which we're not attempting to do here). So yes, "fees" in our context refers to fees internal to the system, and transactions with the outside world are beyond SoV0's ability to control.

So basically, you're attempting to build an isolated economic/value system. How this relates to the outside world will be left to the usual suspects. Sounds like a prescription to become just another crypto --- albeit one with less functionality than most. If it catches on, Binance will probably just convert it into one of their coins in the interest of "efficiency".
- sov0_custodian 4y agoSo our view of our distinction vs existing cryptocurrencies is about: [I] fixed supply and zero fees (internal to the system, as you've pointed out), and [II] being a particularly good coordination point on account of [I]. Appreciate your thoughts, as getting input on this is one of our core goals for this public test period. Thanks!
