Far simpler explanation. I don't win anything if the company gets a project that succeeds. I only win as an individual if I get credit for the project. It is why when I am asked whether a project is worth doing, the answer is always yes. Not because the company gains anything, but because I need stuff for the resume that looks good. So it is in my interests to kill ideas which are not my own, as I cannot personally gain from those.
