Greed. I will now boycott Google. – Google Pixel Community
- manuelabeledo 4y agoI guess this person is boycotting every single manufacturer of Android devices, then.
- christophilus 4y agoSounds like it. I’m on iPhone for exactly this reason. I nearly bought a Pixel to put Graphene on it, but the insanely short lifetime for support swayed me. Does anyone know how feature phones / flip phones fare when it comes to longevity? I think I’d be fine with one of those and an external GPS.

- josephcsible 4y agoIf computers with the Intel 486 CPU from 1989 can still run the latest version of Linux, why can't phones from 2018 run the latest version of Android?
- jqpabc123 4y agoWhere have you been? This has been going on for decades. Remember user replaceable batteries? What happened to them? Hardware manufacturers killed them because they want to sell you a new phone instead. The reason is simple --- it's more profitable for them. Who is to blame for this? Maybe you. Somehow, consumers swallowed the idea that "free" software is better. Someone forgot to explain that "free" software often means you pay with your privacy. Someone forgot to explain that "free" software means hardware manufacturers will come to dominate the eco-system --- and cheap, disposable, unrepairable hardware will follow. Crazy idea --- how about we pay $5 extra for a phone that is truly private and at least has a replaceable battery? Is that really "crazy"? Where is MS when you need them? Unfortunately, that ship has now sailed never to return.
