Manslaughter is _always_ less severe than murder because it wasn't intentional. It's not worth cutting an additional life out of society (and making them an additional cost to society) just for vengeance's sake if there's no risk of a repeat crime and there's remorse.
- danw1979 4y agoAgreed there’s no point bloating the prison population, but remorse is a poor parameter for sentencing IMHO. We should have fixed penalties for this kind of crime. If someone killed my kid with their car I’d prefer the perpetrator to simply be never allowed to drive a car ever again. If they try, then they get time.
