Chile Constitution Vote a Big Loss for CIA and “Chicago Boys”

  > A new, lower voting age of 16. Moreover, voting “constitutes a right and a civic duty,” and so voting would become compulsory for everyone 18 and over. This keeps popping up. Whose interests does it serve to make those who vote, on average, less informed, experienced, and interested in politics? People readily decry how stupid they were when the were teenagers, so why then turn around and give them the vote? And how can one simultaneously decry disinformation, while adding those most vulnerable to it to the voting body?

    You can keep telling yourself that, or read the proposal for constitution which I as a chilean proudly rejected.
