As pointed out in the post, their volunteer moderators didn't notice the offending post for 14 minutes.
Facebooks paid moderators and advanced AI let a terrorist stream for 29 minutes before noticing.
- hammyhavoc 4y ago16,000 daily users on Kiwi Farms versus 1.968 billion on Facebook. Of course Facebook will take longer because of the volume of UGC. Some perspective: I run Facebook Pages and Groups with many times more users than that. Whole Facebook Pages and Groups consisting of many more users have been terminated over far less from a single user. Stay hydrated and keep cool. I've made silly statements before on HN when I'm dehydrated or flustered, and I'm not one to chastise or mock over it, but really, look after yourself if you aren't already, mate.

- hammyhavoc 4y agoOh, I do. Go on then, what's wrong with what I said? Are you not genuinely impressed by the logistics of handling that much UGC? Scaling up to that level means that response times increase.
- convery 4y agoThey do indeed handle a lot of UGC, the vast majority of which is filtered out by AI and then teams upon teams to review inconclusive results / reports. Millions of users that can report what the AI and teams missed. With a quarterly revenue of $29 billion to fund their efforts. With all that it still takes 30 minutes for mass-reports to reach a human, weeks or longer for less reported content. KF is operating at a loss with volunteers trying to filter the content and handling the reports; still the vast majority is handled within minutes. The ratio of investment/resources to response-time should be in FBs favour, yet them being slow / inefficient is expected while a small forum "can't successfully moderate" if it takes 13 minutes to remove a problematic post that few users ever even saw.
