In my opinion, it may be painful for Americans, but it is not as bad as Europe. US can actually pull this off, because US has the world reserve currency, US produces its own energy, Mexico who can provide low cost goods, and immigrates will help to reduce inflations. On the other hand, Europe is screwed if they want to follow US's lead for deglobalizaiton.
- anm89 4y agoAgreed, US is by far not in the worst position here. Then again. Some Euro economies dont have their industrial base quite as hollowed out as the US. I believe Germany still has pretty good manufacturing.
- yunohn 4y ago> Mexico who can provide low cost goods, and immigrates will help to reduce inflations “The USA will win because we have slaves in close proximity” But Europe has tons of labor immigration as well. Obviously, you can’t outsource all the routine manual labor that every country needs to function - how else would the Western lifestyle be sustained?
- TheLoafOfBread 4y agoWhat labor immigration into EU are you talking about? Eastern Europeans? Mostly taken and they don't have slave wages anymore. Africans? Nobody in EU is interested in them. It is difficult to explain them what they are suppose to do (Language barriers) and the moment you will turn away, they will stop doing it.
- yunohn 4y agoDidn’t realise this thread could get more /racist/, was hoping my earlier sarcasm would temper it down. Count me out!
- TheLoafOfBread 4y agoOh yeah, it is racist to describe reality.
