I noticed the Ikea at College Park, MD had made a lot of cost-cutting measures following temporary covid-19 closure. Inventory and the food court menu are both significantly diminished. Interestingly, they also dropped the conventional USA retail store pop music for some kind of generic background music. Presumably pop music is more expensive to play in a retail store due to licensing/royalties? So perhaps Muzak is supplying them with an alternative playlist, or maybe they have something similar coming from their Swedish HQ.
Coincidentally, Muzak is the name of my YouTube playlist with all the music I like. I feel embarrassed to have only just now learned that it's a trademarked brand name.
I should look up their generic background music. Instrumental music in general is the kind of music I prefer. Having to listen to songs with lyrics distracts my mind with analyzing the meaning of those lyrics and whether or not I agree with them. Would rather not have to deal with that while listening to music, and so instrumental music what's most comfortable.
