You seem to have missed the point completely so let me point it out for you (no pun intended).
> demand on foreigners to inform the Israeli authorities within 30 days of starting a relationship with a Palestinian ID holder.
Most countries grill people who come on a touristic visa to stay with their SOs simply because there is usually a sperate visa scheme for that purpose.
The issue here is that the policy only targets part of the population, hence the outcry.
- nailer 4y ago> the policy only targets part of the population No it doesn’t. Palestinians are outside Israel. It targets specific foreigners, not Arabs or Christians or anyone else.
- curiousgal 4y agoThe mental gymnastics. Oof
- nailer 4y agoIt’s mental gymnastics that people outside your country are foreigners? OK. Open a map. A map made by anyone. See a border? Not the same state.
- pbarthelemy 4y agoPalestinians as foreigners ? Ok, then, thanks ! You just recognized Palestine as a country … ( pro-Israel people can’t have it both ways : denying Palestinian statehood or implying it depending on the issue being discussed…)
- ReptileMan 4y agoPalestinians are stateless. This doesn't make them less of foreigners.
- realce 4y agoPalestinians, people that belong to a nation with national borders that exist today, that have remained in the same place for thousands of years, are stateless individuals? That's strange.
- ReptileMan 4y agoThey may have nation, but they don't have a state. The basic definition of state is monopoly of violence over a territory and ability to defend it.
- realce 4y agoOh that totally sounds like the civilized definition of a State.
- nailer 4y agoWe’ll they’re outside the borders of Israel. Open a map made by anyone to check this. I’m glad you understand.
