If you try doing something for fun and then you stop having fun, makes sense to me to stop doing that thing.

- metadat 4y agoAgreed, TFAs core subject of "how one handles plateaus in personal performance" seems ill-suited to hobby-level exercise analogies. A shame to start out on the foot of a crap analogy, because Mr. I-wanna-be-VP's message is otherwise decent with some good ideas.
- PaulHoule 4y agoIt's funny. I have a hobby of printing images onto cards and making "constellations" of the cards. A bit more than six months my ago son introduced me to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaglyph_3D https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaglyph_3D and between time spent doing other things and figuring things out and eventually getting a good stereo camera it took about six months before I started routinely making good stereograms. Or I made a few before I ran into a really baffling problem: I made a tkinter application that let me process a stereo image and I found the 3d effect would often look great in tkinter but not look quite right in Photoshop or when I printed it. Turned out there was a problem with color management which I was able to prove by making an image that looks like a TV test pattern and taking a screenshot of the image in tkinter and in photoshop where the colors aren't the same. In some sense I felt this was a setback and a real pain in the ass but in the long term I'm going to perfect the art of stereograms and this is what it takes.
