- gruez 4y ago>Intel said the new SoCs are aimed at a broad range of industries, including point-of-sale kit in the retail, banking, and hospitality sectors, industrial PCs and controllers for the manufacturing industry, plus healthcare. ®
- Const-me 4y agoI wonder why doesn't that stuff run some ARM-based Linux? Do they actually need a CPU as fast as that Adler Lake? I have made embedded software for industrial equipment with mid-range ARM SoCs, things went rather well. I would probably do it again should I want to make kiosk software or similar.
- mecsred 4y agoIt's a pretty fluid term depending on who you're talking to, and it's mostly a buzzword in marketing. Most people I know use it as "edge of the network", as in something likely running off solar and cellular out on site with a limited uplink. The general idea behind the term being you move computing resources out to distributed systems and read back processed information rather than sending all the raw data to a central service first.
