Screenly is looking for an open source developer to work on the most popular digital signage project on GitHub (https://github.com/Screenly/screenly-ose https://github.com/Screenly/screenly-ose).
In the role, you'll be maintaining the open source code base, help the community, and drive the project forward (new features etc). It's a plus if you have experience tinkering with Raspberry Pis (since you'll be doing a fair bit of that).

- danbmil99 4y agoThis looks interesting but I am confused about the relationship between the open-source version and the SaaS-y for-profit version. There is lots of verbiage at the website about how the two projects share zero code, along with a none-too-subtle pitch to get potential users to go for the paid version. Can someone knowledgeable recap the history & politics here? If I apply for and am offered a job at "screenly", am I joining a FOSS project, or a for-profit company that supports the FOSS version merely to fill their hopper for the paid product?
