Ok, but give me a choice, it's my computer and I should be able to decide what it runs. For example, I might care about my battery life, record low latency video and audio or prefer a different anti-malware product.
- easeout 4y ago> scans lasting 15-35 seconds every hour or two during periods of low user activity Doesn't sound like that's going to use substantial battery nor outprioritize low-latency A/V. Long before Apple was known for battery life, they were known for real time media. (I won't speak to user choice though since I'm not clear on which parts are optional should you choose to tinker with macOS.)
