Unfortunately we are bad at recognizing threats, it triggers our psychological defenses. Society itself is a big psychological shield, and within it you are incentivized to attain personal success at any cost. Through this and the diffusion of responsibility nobody is really responsible for any damage. The damage is not counted at all, it's someone else's problem, it's the future's problem. Unfortunately we are already in the future. The bill is coming. We shouldn't base our global economy on a popularity contest on top of the supply chain, where the supply chain is expected to continuously grow with the population, without considering the biosphere on which the supply chain rests.
