'Brutal' housing prices hit America's Zoom towns
- eindiran 4y agoI can't actually read the article to find out and am too lazy to bypass the paywall: what is a "Zoom town"? From the name, maybe a boom town that boomed in the era of remote work?

- octokatt 4y agoHouse prices doubling in three years is not sustainable, and the rate hike was a kick in the teeth. I was financially able to buy a house with my salary last year in my area (greater Portland), and now… I’d be lucky if I could buy a condo. This is bad. Cities are full of AirBnBs, suburbs are full of city workers, and everyone is getting edged out. The arbitrage of property is removing most of the necessary stability of having a home.
