Python Package Manager Shootout
- BerislavLopac 4y agoI'm disappointed that pipenv is still considered a viable alternative in this space. https://chriswarrick.com/blog/2018/07/17/pipenv-promises-a-lot-delivers-very-little/ https://chriswarrick.com/blog/2018/07/17/pipenv-promises-a-l...
- yboris 4y agopipenv is the only thing I use at work (in production!) and it's excellent - for at least 2 years now. We don't have problems with builds, and we do not have trouble updating packages (unlike trying to upgrade requirements.txt manually). We also have the ability to include dev packages (like black) without having to ship them into production. I don't understand the animosity.
- BerislavLopac 4y agoHave you read the linked article?
- yboris 4y agoI read the article a few years back. I'm sharing my experience, I'm not trying to say none of the criticism apply. As of 2022 I think pipenv is in good shape and worth using. At the very least I don't see a reason for us to switch away from it at work.

- rogue7 4y agoHow does mamba (and conda-forge) fare with respect to these metrics ?
