But even a casual might wonder, if matrices are still The Way and tensors the underestimated and unsung challenger, why is the framework called TensorFlow and not MatrixFlow? (There’s also a TensorFlow Graphics since 2019, that’s not heretical either.) Perhaps the journalist shouldn’t have framed this as a present tense “fifth dentist” scenario, but should have set the evangelism a decade ago and mentioned she achieved her goal as tensors are well accepted across the field, where she’s worked with many leaders: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anima_Anandkumar#Research https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anima_Anandkumar#Research Anandkumar certainly knows, so presumably journalist’s mis-framing for a “hook” and click-bait headline.
