- kelseyfrog 4y agoI'm typically more interested in primary sources. Have you any of those to recommend?
- ETH_start 4y agoSolzhenitsyn's The Gulag Archipelago
- kelseyfrog 4y agoThank you! This is like a founding work of Marx?
- ETH_start 4y agoNo, this is a first hand account of the repression inflicted by the world's leading Marxist state.
- kelseyfrog 4y agoThat's too bad. I was looking forward to reading about the thing itself. If you end up finding some of those please send them my way. Perhaps my request was unclear? You seem more interested in pushing a specific account rather than the foundational sources I'm asking for. Is there a reason you're trying to do this?
- ETH_start 4y agoThe theory is not "the thing itself". The thing itself is the results of that theory when put into practice. That's what I provided. If you are so interested in Marx's words, is there a reason you're not Googling them yourself, instead of asking me for the source while showing complete disinterest in an account of the consequences of his theories put into practice?
- kelseyfrog 4y agoI'm not here to change your mind on anything, because I'm more interested in how you approach it. It's like asking for information about the industrial revolutions and having someone insist that it be approached by reading Industrial Society and its Future by Theodore Kaczynski. It's an idiosyncratic approach and there's an underlying reason, and I just want to understand what's going on.
