    Generally Git for Windows includes bash and coreutils, but it's not work on cmd or PowerShell unless it's added to PATH, so it would be useful sometimes.

    Yeah I don't install it from the MSI, takes longer to update

  It makes a lot of sense for some people to install Git into their path but not stuff like wc, since adding everything to your path can interfere with standard Windows utilities. Then you can use Git from PowerShell, but you won’t have wc. This is not an unusual or bizarre configuration, it’s a very reasonable configuration.
