For all the myriad of settings on these things, on just every microwave oven I've owned, the "power setting" is always set to High and I just dial in the time in minutes. Mind you I mostly use it for microwaving frozen peas and sweetcorn, and very slightly softening super hard frozen ice-cream (~5-6 seconds).
I can't be the only one?
- frosted-flakes 4y agoWhat you want is a LG NeoChef because it has the best user interface I've ever seen. Yes, that's a capacitive slider, and yes it works really well. There are more buttons inside the door for power levels and a "popcorn" settings and such, but those are rarely needed. https://www.lg.com/us/cooking-appliances/lg-LMC0975ST-counter-top-microwave-oven# https://www.lg.com/us/cooking-appliances/lg-LMC0975ST-counte...
- teh_klev 4y agoI'm sure it's very nice, but for my own limited usage I couldn't justify spending more than GBP40.00 or so on a microwave oven. The one I bought a ~5-6 years ago has a mechanical timer and makes a single satisfying "ting!" when it completes. This far preferable to having yet another sodding appliance that beeps loudly at you.
- frosted-flakes 4y agoThis one doesn't beep, it plays a short, unobtrusive musical tone. And $140 is very cheap for a microwave oven.
