Even when I was a student there in the 1980s, it had rather sold out to the tourist industry and wasn't frequented much by locals. However, if you asked nicely, the landlord would allow you to go down into the cellars which are cavernous and were apparently used in the Middle Ages to harbour Jewish people under threat from persecution.
