- WolfOliver 4y agoBut an automation is the best documentation of a process. In contrast to written documentation it is never outdated.
- nicbou 4y agoBut you choose when you automate things. It can be done on a slow day. Manual tasks need attention regardless of your schedule.
- yobbo 4y ago30 minutes of recurring work everyday for years is not the same as a few months of directed work. Automation forces you to understand and document a process, and usually do it more thoroughly and correctly. From then on, it relieves you to do other stuff.
- selfhoster11 4y agoIf the task of automating something is complex, that might indicate that the process itself is complex. If that's true, then it might be worth automating anyway, because it would eliminate the error-prone parts of the manual process and give you a better end-to-end understanding of all the steps and how it all fits together.
