We've hit a near dystopic point in the size of large tech companies that the only way to get support on complex issues is publicity/shame, so in a way HN is tech support (not that that's productive in any way)
- nathanaldensr 4y agoI don't want Hacker News to become purely a corporate complaint forum, which is what it will turn into, guaranteed, if these posts are allowed. This kind of stuff belongs on Reddit. If a company has a grievance against another company they should hire a lawyer.
- SQueeeeeL 4y agoI agree, but lawyers are crazy expensive, basically to the point where going to court against a large corporation is actually financially untenable. Our material conditions are simply such that the only recourse a lot of groups have to corporate malfeasance is posting on hacker news (because it's the behavior we see)
- nathanaldensr 4y agoI understand, but what's cheaper for the complainant becomes expensive for HN if this trend continues. If HN gives these kinds of posts a separate area or navbar button and is fine with spending the bandwidth, then fine. I just don't like seeing the posts mixed with actual tech posts.
