I only wanted to reply re: 1. It is 'broken' in the sense that it takes people a few seconds to realize it's even a menu. You may not like the criticism, and I know it's sort of hand-wavy and isn't using science. But I'm a former designer, and it's bad. Please tell me you can see it. I'm not criticizing the site in general - I think it looks great. But you should fix the menu; it will make your site's users lives better, at no cost to you.
