Yes, before Germany invaded Poland, and Germany and Russia were allies, it seemed like nothing could stop Hitler's totalitarianism. And then Germany invaded Poland, Britain entered the war honoring its agreements, Churchill told France no matter what the British would never ever ever ever stop, Germany betrayed Russia, and the U.S. entered the war.
The rest of the world is right now looking out for itself. Unremarkable. And not wrong, but it is short sighted that so many have not learned the lesson of WWI and WWII. These are nations who are signatories to the U.N. Charter and they are bound to do more than they are with respect to Ukraine by Article 2(5). There should be no trade with these countries as far as I'm concerned. China and India should get nothing while they stop short of doing everything they could do to make this war of aggression harder for Russia.
Putin may have started this genocidal antagonistic ideology. But Russians are following, specifically the citizens of Moscow are now widely using the language of the Kremlin, than being anti-Russian means you're a dire threat deserving extermination. The Russian people, culture, nation - all of it - are at risk of being permanently stained with trying to commit genocide on top of having started a war of aggression, which a Soviet jurist argued at Nuremberg was the supreme international crime when it was committed by Germany.
The majority opinion can be wrong and, globally, right now it is. There is only one proper solution to the conflict and that is for Russia to withdraw from every square inch of Ukraine. That ends the conflict. International trade can resume when there is a restitution agreement in place.

- verdverm 4y agoThe world cannot simply stop doing business with China. It would result in a great depression. Absolutist views are never the most appropriate. You have to give and take. My comment was more than just the last ~100 years of history. You can look at NK today and go back to the witch hunts, or go back further in history, flat earth, bloodletting, even washing hands. Modern understanding and knowledge could be lost. If we weren't educated, we could very easily regress to believing whatever is taught is the right idea.
