Many companies already have photos taken as part of onboarding, usually no professional photographer involved, or require photos to be provided by remote employees if in person onboarding isn't required. They are used for company badges and uploaded to company directories. The directories are often tied into cloud services such as Slack where the picture becomes the user profile for that service. For Slack their SCIM API can be used to do this.
