Sorta tl;dr. In my case, remote is favoured because I have a good working environment at home so I can work without interruptions. It's also quiet with a door, so that my video/audio interactions don't annoy others. I also don't have a long/frustrating commute which lets me actually get more work done in less wall clock time. Others might prosper, or think they prosper, in the bullpen environment but I find that far too distracting for actually accomplishing anything. As per Rands, I need to create and maintain State when doing something difficult and recovering State takes time when interrupted. YMMV.
