Police robot told woman go away after she tried to report crime then sang a song (2019)
- armchairhacker 4y agoThis police robot looks like a walking meme. I can't imagine anything legitimately good coming out of that thing.
- hulitu 4y agoYou should see Robocop :) /s
- permo-w 4y agoperhaps this story is somewhat relevant in a meta sense regarding the ethics and viability of robotics, but more generally, I'm so, so sick of British news outlets - from the Daily Mail to the BBC - running out of local news and deciding that American news is equally relevant, and further than that, titling the articles as if they were local news why should I have to know every time there's a mildly notable political event, or murder, or celebrity occurrence, thousands of miles away in a completely different country?
- UncleEntity 4y agoFor the same reason I should know about the daily lives of a royal family we fought a revolution to be rid of?
- permo-w 4y agoit’s a rhetorical question. the issue here is the perverse incentives the media has. bring back government grants for journalism

- syntaxing 4y agoEdit 2: Article is from 2019… Isn’t this the same robot where the indoor navigation is so bad that it ended up throw itself into a indoor fountain? Edit: Just noticed they mentioned it on the bottom of the article. Didn’t know they hit a kid too in a mall…
- midoridensha 4y agoI fail to see how this police robot that ignores crime reports and jumps into fountains is really any worse than a typical police officer in America.
- binbashthefash 4y agoThe robots haven't murdered anyone with a choke hold or started a drug running gang yet at least
- feet 4y agoOr formed violent gangs that purposely kill innocent people like the LASD has https://knock-la.com/lasd-gangs-little-devils-wayside-whities-cavemen-vikings/ https://knock-la.com/lasd-gangs-little-devils-wayside-whitie...
- tehwebguy 4y agoAt least it sang a song, slight improvement over the fleshy police. On a serious note, can Amazon (-> MGM -> Orion Pictures) make them stop calling this thing “RoboCop”?

- maxbond 4y agoI've seen ads on television to buy this company's stock.
- somedude895 4y agoYou get TV ads that promote buying certain stocks in the UK?
- maxbond 4y agoNot generally, but I did get an ad for this company. I mention it because I thought it was strange.
