A useful mental model is to already see what you are good at, and draw (mentally) curves of your competence (I wrote about it in https://newsletter.smarter.blog/p/curves-of-competence https://newsletter.smarter.blog/p/curves-of-competence). And then use it to figure out where to amplify. Also note that becoming an expert is a lot of hard work.
