Ironically it is paywalled by Medium. Commenting is only allowed when using their app (I'm on phone).
Was it intentional? Can someone ping the author and see if they can remove the paywall to increase the blast radius of such an important piece?

You could write to the author and ask him why he posts on Medium. My bet is that posting in multiple places increases the blast radius.
