I carry a Garmin Inreach hiking/biking when out of cell service, personally I always have my phone so it would be nice to have it all in one, possibly with a slight loss in redundancy.
- ghaff 4y agoAll other things being equal, e.g. subscription cost, I'd probably go with the redundancy for safety equipment. Of course, if phone sat is cheaper, that starts to look more attractive in a lot of scenarios, especially less hardcore ones.
