Future-wise I don't think individuals would stand a chance against a sufficiently advanced AI technology. People are not a black box or particularly unique. An AI might be able to detect certain thoughts from our faces, movement or smell, let alone our brains. In-use database encryption today is trivially defeated (which is why it is not used) not by compromising the encryption, but by establishing patterns and detecting them. It's particularly hard to create black boxes out of active systems. Even in-transit encryption like HTTPS or Wi-Fi is not trivially safe because of these side channels. A person compared to that is an open book if you know what to look for.
