What is meant by dumped on your desk here? Was it a big set of floppies or a stack of printouts?
- Nursie 4y agoHah, perhaps not that literal :) I was given a very precious CD-R(!) with about a million lines of C on it, that we had bought from the vendor of some crucial middleware we were using. Included with it were the build files for a proprietary build system that we hadn't bought alongside the source license. My task was to understand it and produce a new build system for it that would work on Solaris/Sparc, HP-UX/PA-RISC and HP-UX/Itanium, AIX/Power, Linux/x64 and z/Linux, and Windows Server 2003. It's funny how only about half of those are a going concern now!
