I'd have no problem with having you as my neighbor. Living in a German brick apartment building, when my neighbor has his subwoofer on maximum, I can still barely hear it over the sound of my own breath. I can watch movies at cinema reference volume at home at 3am and my neighbors don't notice it either. Your problem isn't with apartment buildings, it's with shoddy american construction standards.
