How thick of a cable does it need to transfer a whole battery in just a minute? 85 Kw/h in 1/60th of an hour over 60 seconds is 5.1 mega joules per second. A 24,000 volts it would need wire capable of carrying 212.5 amps. How could that be made safe?
- hulitu 4y agoDC or AC ? Putting 212 A through a wire will be an interesting magnet :)
- soperj 4y agoDoctor Emmett Brown managed to transfer 1.21 Gigawatts in a second down a cable no bigger than a telephone wire. I'm sure it'll be fine.
- mikecoles 4y agoOnce the connection is established, the ionized pathway, where the conductor was, should do well enough.
- simulator5g 4y agoThere are cables that can handle that kind of power. They're pretty big. Here's a picture of one: https://i.imgur.com/OlGx0.jpg https://i.imgur.com/OlGx0.jpg
- ohiovr 4y agoThat can handle the current easily. But the voltage is high. Even with DC I wonder if the insulation would enough on that cable.
