it’s batshit crazy they got rid of it. it was perfectly focused on just the messages and nothing else. when i’m done reading something i don’t give a single fuck about where it goes as long as there’s a great search feature to let me find it again.
it kills me there is no spiritual successor. i’ve stripped down mac os mail.app to more or less work like that, but it’s not quite the same.
the hey.com client gets a lot of things right imo, but ive had the same gmail account for the past 17-18 years—and there's just no way im going to switch over to a hey.com address that requires that i keep paying for it or have it be deleted.
- patches11 4y agoYou can use hey with your own domain now: https://www.hey.com/custom-domains/ https://www.hey.com/custom-domains/
- adamsiem 4y agoAs of yesterday, you can receive and respond via your Gmail address using Hey.com's client. https://bit.ly/3RdtmsR https://bit.ly/3RdtmsR
- wkdneidbwf 4y agogot a link that works? i don’t see anything on their site about this.
- adamsiem 4y agoFixed link! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PHWMgjlybynPHu9-fYeEZkdprQgXlNVZ/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PHWMgjlybynPHu9-fYeEZkdprQg... They sent an email this week to all subscribers titled: "NEW in HEY: Send emails via Gmail" I confirmed this works. I was only receiving my Gmail emails before. Now, when I reply I can select my hey.com or my gmail.com domain to send.
- wkdneidbwf 4y agothanks for this, that’s a potential game changer for me!
- Thadeust 4y agoI have the same problem as you. So I just forward my email from Gmail to Hey. Hey gets most of it right. I just wish they bundled emails automatically (similar to how Inbox did)
