Amazon shuts down Amazon Care
- CatWChainsaw 4y agoI do not think Amazon could have handled healthcare with the individuality, precision, and compassion that the field demands. This comes as a relief.
- metadat 4y agoUh, they just bought One Medical like a month ago. That's a big bet, way bigger than this little doodad. Uncle Jeff is still coming for your medimoney.
- CatWChainsaw 4y agoI can totally see Amazon using the acquisition for uses similar to IBM's Watson's original purpose. I can also see where any (and all) tech giants would love to break into medimoney, it's just another realm to silo people. Whatever thwarts those ambitions is net good imo.
- metadat 4y agoIt's coming no matter what. Definitely doesn't seem like a win for anyone in need of care, but the system is already pretty messed up. How much worse could it get? /s
- CatWChainsaw 4y ago/s aside, antibiotic resistant bacteria and the inherent limitations of phage therapy, residual supply chain problems inflating costs, strained healthcare staff burning out and stretching the remaining healthcare professionals even more. A couple weeks ago I had a 15min telehealth visit and even after insurance I still owe $200. I can cover that, but for an increasing number of Americans that's emergency fund kind of money.
- JohnFen 4y agoI honestly can't imagine being OK with trusting any FAANG company with healthcare.

- advisedwang 4y agoPresumably this just means they've given up on a from-the-ground-up solution and are focusing on One Medical
