You may not get paid FAANG salaries, but you will have a job that pays well that you do not have to constantly relearn every 2 years. I was brought into the data scene about 15 years ago by a mentor who explained that the work was fun, the same skills from `92 are still valid today, and the pay was great. I've found it all to be true. A bit of on-call at times, but nothings perfect.
