- factorialboy 4y agoIsn't the whole point that outrageous processing power is no longer a prerequisite.
- karaterobot 4y agoYep. So now you may be able to pick up GPUs for MSRP, unlike the last few years.
- ru552 4y agoYes, and all of the GPUs currently being used will be available at fire sale prices.
- tingletech 4y agoright, so presumably there will be a lot of idle GPUs that miners will sell / less demand for new GPUs?
- TheMaskedCoder 4y agoBut would you _want_ a GPU that had a former life as a cryptominer? Running all those computations 24/7 probably takes a bit out of the life expectancy.
- haunter 4y agoYou can replace the fans and repaste the die. I’m curious about the prices though like don’t expect anything firesale-y
- ajaimk 4y agoActually yes. Gpu miners undervolt their cards these days and mining is a consistent load on the cards. The mining cards experience less stress and wear compared to gaming.
- Kab1r 4y agoIIRC, Mining can be intensive on VRAM, which can shorten cards' lifespans.
- tmalsburg2 4y agoI predict that many of these GPUs will continue to mine just on different chains.
- wmf 4y agoThe rewards on other chains aren't enough to sustain all the GPUs.
- tmalsburg2 4y agoGPU mining was a thing long before the recent high ETH valuations
