People don't connect in sterile, comfortable-for-all environments. Professionalism keeps this in check: inclusive enough to not exclude people from other cultures, etc. But it's somewhat of a trade-off and we have trouble admitting that. I don't have a strong opinion about whether alcohol should be an ordinary part of business or not. Seems reasonable either way. But anything interesting can make some people uncomfortable, so let's not eliminate it all.
