I like (craft) beer for the taste. I rarely have more than a couple and thus I rarely get tipsy much less drunk. I would honestly happily drink non-alcoholic or low-alcohol beer if there were more good options (I have no idea how much of the flavor of beer comes down to alcohol).
That said, I think it’s mostly fine that lots of people like drink, although many people obviously don’t handle it well. So I also understand why people think it isn’t great for society. I think the most compelling point is that alcoholism exists, and we probably shouldn’t make the default social environment one which revolves around alcohol.
- docdeek 4y agoI don't drink alcohol but I am a big fan of beers without alcohol. Tasting different non-alcoholic beers is a hobby of mine and I like to keep a nice record of what I've tried, when and where, country of origin and more. I've tasted more than 600 different non-alcoholic beers in the last three years or so and, yes, there are some that are terrible - but there are some absolute greats, too. Germany, Belgium, France and the UK all have great craft breweries making beer without alcohol. They are out there and fun to discover.
