Whoever you are and in whatever stage of life, there will always be some popular thing that you can’t even fake being a part of. Might be alcohol, might be sports, might be heterosexuality, might be kids, might be money, career or a thousand other things. The solution is not to sand all public life down to a smooth and seamless sameness. It is to treat each other respectfully, even if you are an -er hanging around are nots. Sorry to this person for a few moments of feeling left out. We all have those moments, some more than others.
